MAK single shot LR tubegun Remington 700 SA chambered in .308 Winchester fitted to a MAK single-shot tubegun chassis. The donor rifle was a Remington 700P and had fired approximately 1500 rounds. It is fitted with a brand new (unfired) Shilen stainless steel match barrel. 1:13 twist. Barrel length is 30” and the final 40mm has been turned to 3/4” to fit a front sight. The chamber is cut with a .340 neck which will be a reasonably tight fit on most good quality brass (eg. Lapua, Norma) without the need to do any neck turning. The specs were designed to give match grade accuracy using a 155grn BTHP Palma projectile and keep it supersonic to 1000yards. But it will still give stellar long range performance from factory loaded ammunition up to a maximum projectile weight of 175grn. Rifle is fitted with a fully adjustable Jewell HVR trigger, currently set at 16oz. The trigger alone is worth nearly $500 and they aren’t available new anymore. The MAK chassis is fitted with a genuine M16 butt stock and adjustable recoil pad. Also a genuine M16 handgrip. There is no recoil buffer or spring in the butt - these are not required for a bolt action. The bolt handle has a Badger Ordnance knob. There’s a 20 MOA Picatinny rail to mount any optic of your choice and not run out of elevation at 1000yds. The history behind this? 20 years ago I was shooing a lot of NRA hi-power using a MAK repeater in 6BR. I started a project to build a similar rifle for 1000yd matches but never completed it and moved away from the area I was living that had a suitable range. So it’s been cleaned, lubed and stored for about 20 years. Barrel is pristine (unfired). Trigger is legendary. MAK chassis is in excellent condition with only a few tiny rub marks from being in the safe with other rifles. There is some wear on the bluing of the bolt handle from its previous life on the regular R700P but still in VGC. This would be a very capable although a little unusual rifle for Fullbore (with open sights fitted). It would really shine as an F-class or 500m fly rifle with a top-quality, high-magnification scope. Or even cut the barrel down and have it re-crowned at 24-26” and go long range hunting or varminting with it.
